Frustrated with tax prep?

Many tax preparers are understandably frustrated with where the industry is headed. Most outlooks suggest the number of tax firms and practitioners will continue to shrink over the coming years.

Today, I spent time coaching a new tax preparer who is just entering the profession. I expect he’ll do well because he’s focused on a very specific, underserved niche and has realistic, sustainable income expectations.

I don’t handle this category of tax returns myself, but I’m glad to provide him with ongoing coaching and business support as needed.

If you’re a tax preparer or bookkeeper who could benefit from occasional guidance on practice strategy, pricing, workflow, or handling difficult situations, I invite you to connect and introduce yourself here on LinkedIn.

My philosophy is simple: when I help other professionals strengthen and grow their core business, they will eventually encounter complex or high‑risk tax matters that require deeper legal or technical expertise; situations where we can collaborate to create better outcomes for their clients.
